We hear a lot about essential oils and how they are beneficial for healing certain ailments as well as used in aromatherapy. How are they created?
Essential oils in pure form are created by distilling plants with steam. Different parts of a plan might be used as per the qualities of a particular plant such as the flower, leaves, stem and other parts. The steam is condensed to liquid form to yield essential oil in pure form. As the essence of a plant is captured in the oil it is called essential oil, which is a concentrated and powerful form.
Different essential oils and their uses
Different essential oils have diverse uses. For instance, the lavender oil has a relaxing effect and is often found in room deodorizers. The Lemon essential extract is also known to uplift mood and bring about a refreshing feeling. Peppermint is a pure essential oil that helps combat depression. Tea tree oil is known to have antiseptic benefits for which it is used in several products that help combat acne. Geranium oil is known to provide a healthy glow to your aging skin and improves circulation. Neroli oil is known to be effective on stretch marks.
Right use of essential oils
The essential oil in pure form can be potent. The oil when blended with other oils can be less irritating to the skin or in the human system. Carrier oils such as jojoba or almond oil help to dilute different form so essential oils. Usually, perfumes are created by mixing a few drops of an essential oil along with a carrier oil. Blends are created to make essential oils safe and effective for use.
There are certain precautions that one should take with respect to essential oils. Such oils in pure form should not be ingested. Internal ingestion of essential oils is often not recommended. Pregnant women should also stay away from the effects of strong essential oils as they can have adverse effects on her health and that of the fetus.
